BSN 432 Assignment 1 Population Health – Basic Windshield Survey
Population Health – Basic Windshield Survey
The training data is skewed in terms of gender. Omission of other genders implies that both men and women are equally represented in most spheres of life, and so, there is gender equality.
The demographic composition of the town consists mainly of retirees, with a few above 30 years. This population trend can suggest an ageing population in Sentinel, affecting healthcare and social dynamics. Interestingly, the racial composition of Sentinel Town was white, with the minority being Hispanics. Ethnicity is somewhat homogeneous, with smaller groups of certain races present in some areas.
Observations
Characteristics
There is a limited gender representation in the training data. The omission of the other genders implies that there is a balance in the number of men and women in most spheres of life and that there is equality between the genders.
The community population structure is dominated by retirees, with a few above 30 years. This population change could also mean that the Sentinel population is ageing, and this impacts healthcare and social dynamics. It is interesting to note that the main racial presence in Sentinel Town was that of the whites, with Hispanics as the minority. In certain areas, there are some smaller ethnic groups, but generally the racial distribution is homogeneous.
Population on the Streets
Properly structured and operating business and residential places are signs of economic development. But conspicuous wealth was much less than in recent times. It was only one that had a clear wealth status since such images were uncommon as community symbols of low status. The financial troubles of the town are evidenced by potholes, poor roads and the majority of the inhabitants of the town employed in the trailer parks. Also, surveys among residents indicated a low median salary, something that caused a major economic burden to the country.
Socioeconomic Indicators
A well-structured and operational business and residential neighborhood is a sign of economic development (Turok et al., 2023). Nevertheless, blatant wealth was much less than it used to be. Only a community that had its own wealth status could display such representations, but they were viewed as a rarity. The financial problems of the town are reflected in potholes, poor roads and the majority of Sentinel Town residents working in trailer parks. Also, surveys of residents revealed low median salaries, and this was a major economic problem for the country.
Unexpected Observations
Other findings also comprised unknown persons staying there, like the farmers and children on four-wheeled bikes, and the absence of other signs of life and culture of the community.
Animal Presence
Citizens were complying with the town rules of having dogs by following them on and off-leash. Rural areas and agriculture were dominated by dogs and other animals that were domesticated. So, Sentinel Town has a rustic appeal.
Religious Buildings
The survey revealed that it is the sole designated worship place, official or informal, since it is not a member of any religious organisation. The religious groups in the community are diverse in terms of the number of religions, which may lead to community contributions such as mutual help and support.
Target Population
We will analyse the Hispanic population, constituting 35% of the total. This purposeful sampling will seek to learn about the Hispanic population in the town regarding their healthcare needs and disparities. Demographic statistics of the Hispanic population in Sentinel Town include age distribution, education, financial stability and immigration status. Proper demographic attributes need to be gathered to tailor efforts and services to the target demographic.
The Hispanic demographic in Sentinel Town health indicators include rates of obesity, diabetes, and vascular disease and access to healthcare, screening programs, and healthcare insurance in an equitable manner. This type of metrics discloses the health and healthcare utilisation of the community. Among the health issues facing the Hispanic population of Sentinel City are cultural differences in health care access, language, cultural health behaviour factors, and increased prevalence of certain chronic diseases. These promises should be fulfilled to facilitate Hispanic health and eliminate injustice. The target community is exposed to health equity, socioeconomic determinants of health, healthcare delivery, health problems in the town and quality care. This engagement at the local level will have a positive impact on global health disparity reduction initiatives in the form of health equality by addressing the needs of Hispanics.
